Development   of a Decision Support System for the Bulk Water Division of City of Cape   Town. This involved the setup of numerous water distribution system models,   development of data capture systems which included their bulk water treatment   facilities, as well as plant operators, and technicians. A set of management   dashboards has been developed to enable management to effectively understand   and engage with the system.

The National Water Quantity (NWQ) information provided to the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is generated using pre-existing data modelling procedures developed and operationalized jointly by GEOTERRAIMAGE SA (www.geoterraimage.com) and EKOSOURCE (www.ekosource.co.za) . The application of these new technology developments has resulted in a new product being developed which enables the estimation of dam volumes at a quaternary catchment level. These include the assessment of the volume of all small dams and medium dams that are not monitored by DWS on a continuous basis.

Development of water resource Information Management system using MIKE INFO platform for the Water Resource Authority. The system allows data capturing, data analysis and information dissemination to stakeholders and public. The system was deployed in the 26 sub-region, 6 region offices and WRA headquarter.

Convert  the Umngeni Water Resources Management Decision Support System from an outdated database structure and outdated front end Graphical User Interface to a new system with better database structure, updated user controls and updated user interface.

This project focussed on assisting Umgeni   Water in setting up a flood disaster mitigation plan and early warning system   for the Umgungundlovu District Municipality. The objective of the project was   to work with Umgeni in capacity building its staff to develop hydrological   and hydrodynamic models. The project focussed on setting up a set of models   to determine the hydrological hazard threat, then combined this with GIS   collected vulnerability estimates to determine areas of highest risk. This   was then combined with the Early Warning Flood Forecasting System which   integrated the models into an operational framework.

This was a full flood risk assessment and development of a pilot system for the flood early warning on the lower part of the system. An integrated team was setup to investigate the options related to specific infrastructure interventions and economic impacts associated with these interventions. This study had a good success with findings being presented at Stockholm water week.

Development of an integrated system which enabled the collection of information from various data sources. This information is processed and presented in formats that will help decision makers. The system is able to integrate, and quality check data then publish the information onto the internet to inform the public and help decision makers.

Water Resources Management Consultancy in support of institutional establishment in Shire River Basin: Configuration of base case MIKE Hydro Basin model to be used in scenario analysis for water resources development scenarios

The development of an integrated Water Resources Management Information System. This consisted of the development of an Information Management System to support WARMA in the implementation of the National Water Resources Management Act in Zambia. The system was set up to effectively capture and manage various water-based information and present these in a format that could be used to support decision making.

Project initiated to set up a pilot proof   of concept early warning flood management system on the Limpopo catchment.   The system was setup using existing datasets and real time information. The   system ran successfully using only the hydraulics to monitor high flows down   the Limpopo system.

Detailed web reports and automated email reports are generated and disseminated within Umgeni Water, displaying data such as historic reservoir trajectories, treatment plant intake and sales, reservoir levels, and tabular reports ready for quarterly reporting documents.

Setup a decision support system for the Western Cape Water Supply System which was able to provide key information for the overall system integrating several different modelling frameworks. This enabled the models to run and automatically and inform users on the amounts to release to meet water demands as well as provide information on curtailment and restriction decisions.

Development of a Flood forecasting system   for four sub-basins of the Eastern Nile basin. The FFS was developed on the   MIKE Operation platform to predict the flows at various locations of the four   sub-basins. The system will help ENTRO with early identification of possible   floods and taking appropriate measure to prevent the loss of lives.
