Beirspruit Flood Study
Develop a full flood risk assessment for the Beirspruit River. A full lidar study was commissioned and a flood risk assessment was performed for the area. The flood risk was performed on a number of levels but was done using a 2d hydrological model. The catchment hydrology was determined using various methods including SCS, continuous simulation model, rational method, and the regional maximum flood. Flood risk was determined using hydraulic information derived including, flow velocity, flow depth and duration of hazard exposure. A set of flood risk maps was developed for the area around the Beirspruit.

Dishaba 62e Raisebore Project – Determination Of Flood-Lines For The Crocodile River And A Localised Drainage Way Adjacent To The Project Boundary
Development of full flood risk assessment for the Dishaba Raisebore project. This included a localised flood risk assessment as well as an assessment of the flood risk for the entire Crocodile catchment up the area around the site. The flood risk was determined through hydrological analysis using various methods which included, continuous simulation, the regional maximum flood aproach, SCS method, the modified SCS method, rational method, modified rational method and the unit hydrograph approach. The catchments varied in size and the method of flood determination was used accordingly. The project also included the commissioning of Lidar information and the working with the mine surveyer to get specific information relating to various infrastructure in the region. A full hydraulic analysis was done and a coupled 1d and 2d model was run for the area. Flood lines were determined and a combination of flood depth, flow velocity and flood duration were used to determine the flood hazard potential.
